The client needed a new bathroom renovation on the top floor of his home to not only upgrade the bathroom but also incorporate aging-in-place concerns. The current bath had the original fixtures from the 1930s, was difficult to use and the space was very tight. The biggest challenge with this bathroom was the operable window in the middle of the shower. Our Architectural Drafter and Lead Carpenter created solutions by turning the corner of the shower wall in front of the window and connecting to the tile to complete a waterproof area. The window became operable again, and better yet – cleanable. The other challenge was space – in order to have a clearance large enough to accommodate a walker, the pony wall was mitered, the sink, counter and fascia was custom made and the faucet was wall hung. All this allowed the client to have a highly serviceable aging in place bathroom that is lovely as well.
